About us

We are a Nutrition Clinic dedicated to the evaluation and nutritional diagnosis of patients, children and adults, and the treatment of overweight and obesity through personalized nutritional planning based on each patient’s metabolism.

 

We carry the patient’s nutritional treatment with morbidities related to obesity and overweight: blood pressure, type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypercholesterolemia, hypertriglyceridemia, hyperthyroidism, and cardiovascular risks. All of these are related to the metabolic functions of the body.

 

We offer personalized nutritional consultations to patients with special needs: athletes, pregnant women, senior adults.

LogoAnthropometric nutritional diagnosis:

Measurement of body weight, weight and percentage of body fat, percentage of fat by sectors (arms, legs and trunk), weight and percentage of muscle mass, weight and percentage of body water, basal metabolic rate, metabolic age and visceral fat evaluation.


LogoMetabolic diagnosis:

Analysis based on anthropometric measurements and results of biochemical tests that reflect the metabolic state of each patient.


LogoPersonalized nutritional treatment:

Establish objective goals based on specific situations of the health status of each patient and based on anthropometric nutritional diagnosis.

Elaboration of specific nutritional programs based on the characteristics of each person.

Elaboration of nutritional programs based on the needs of each family member.

The program is presented by joining menus that can help all of the members of a family, and options are set, concrete and different, based on the specific needs of each person.

Regular monitoring of weight and all anthropometric indicators related to nutritional diagnosis: Objective and scientific analysis of the nutritional status and its evolution.

Biography

Carolina Flores de Bolaños has a degree in Nutrition, Cum Laude, from the Universidad del Valle de Guatemala, collegiate member 3038 at the Colegio de Químicos y Farmacéuticos de Guatemala.

 

Her graduation thesis entitled "Aceptabilidad y valor nutritivo de un pan dulce con fibra dietética de la inflorescencia del amaranto y efecto en la bioquímica sanguínea de adultos mayores " (“Acceptability and nutritional value of sweet bread with dietary fiber of amaranth inflorescence and effect in the blood biochemistry of senior adults”) was carried out under the advice of Dr. Ricardo Bressani. This work obtained Honorable Mention by the Universidad del Valle and was awarded as the Best Research Work at the IV Feria Tecnoalimentaria Centroamericana, 2009.

 

In the period of 2008-2009, Carolina studied the European Master's Degree in Nutrition and Metabolism (E-MENU) at the Universidad de Navarra, Spain, and was awarded the Universidad de Navarra-Banco Santander Scholarship.

Her Master graduation thesis was called “Obesidad, Inflamación y Complicaciones Asociadas: Estudio de la función de la citoquina Cardiotrofina-1 y sus potenciales aplicaciones terapéuticas” ("Obesity, Inflammation and Associated Complications: Study of the function of the cytokine Cardiotrophin-1 and its potential therapeutic applications"). This work was funded by the Departamento de Salud del Gobierno de Navarra and the Fundación Mutua Madrileña, and was carried out jointly with the Departamento de Ciencias de la Alimentación, Fisiología y Toxicología (CAFT) of the Universidad de Navarra and the Centro de Investigación Médica Aplicada (CIMA), under the guidance of Dr. María Jesús Moreno-Aliaga and Dr. Matilde Bustos.
Carolina is a member of the Asosiación de Nutricionistas de Guatemala (ANDEGUAT) and of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (www.eatright.org)

Carolina was elected national in Softball during the period of 1998 to 2000 in the Minors and from 2001 to 2004 in the Majors. She was a flamenco dancer at the Academia Mary Farrington for 11 years and was Miss Teen Guatemala in 2001-2002.
Carolina is currently in the field of Clinical Nutrition and is the mother of two boys and one girl.
